Specifying configuration comparison settings

To open the Configuration comparison settings dialog box, in the Compare, merge... window, click the Settings button.

To compare configurations, select the main and loaded configurations.

By default, the mode for comparing different configurations (those that are not related to each other) is used.

If configurations are related, select the relation type. When you close the settings dialog box (by clicking OK), a column that displays object change history with icons is added to the Compare, merge... window.

This column is added to the Loaded configuration column if the loaded configuration is a descendant of the main configuration, or to the Main configuration column if the main configuration is the descendant of the loaded configuration.

The relation type determines how differences are displayed in the comparison window.

If the configuration has multiple languages, you can perform selective comparison by several languages. For this, select the Use selective comparison by the following languages check box option and select one or several languages. If the current configuration is supported and the settings that you specify are applied to its update, the languages are selected using the current support options.

Main configuration object group

Any configuration merging can include the deletion of main configuration objects. By default this option is available only in the vendor configuration update mode. To enable this option in other modes, select the Allow main configuration object deletion check box.

By default the following rules apply to the deletion of vendor objects. If a user changed a vendor object (compared to the previous vendor configuration version), the object is not marked for deletion. If the object is identical to the vendor object in the previous configuration version, it is marked for deletion. If the object has a deletion mark (set either manually or automatically), the reference integrity check is performed during the comparison and merging. If unresolvable references to the object to be deleted are found, they are displayed in a new window. Unlike the unresolvable references that appear when copying of some objects from a vendor configuration (or any other configuration) is denied, these unresolvable references prevent the merging (and deletion) of the object.

Loaded configuration objects group

By default objects that are not available in the main configuration are added to the main configuration with IDs taken from the loaded configuration.

If you select the "Copy objects" mode... check box, new objects are added according to the legacy rules: new IDs are generated for such objects.

When you click OK, configurations are compared again according to the specified settings.
