Work with Business Processes

Business processes in 1C:Enterprise are intended to combine separate operations into chains of interrelated actions, allowing specific goals to be attained. For example, the issuance of an invoice, acceptance of cash payment, and shipment of goods from a warehouse can be combined into a Cash sale of goods business process.
Chains of interrelated operations within a business process are presented in the business process route map. A route map (flowchart) describes the logic of the business process and its entire life cycle, from start to finish, in the form of a map of the passing sequence for interrelated points in the process.
A route point reflects a stage in the life cycle of a business process, normally involving the performance of a single automatic or manual operation.
The description of specific business processes and their interconnection with tasks is provided in the configuration description.
The general principles of work with business processes and tasks are similar to working with other objects (for example, documents and catalogs), therefore we will consider only specific features.

Business Process List Window

A specific list of business processes can be opened using main menu commands, toolbar buttons or opened business processes.

Also, using Operations — Business processes... will open the list of business processes present in the configuration.

Select the business process from this list using your mouse or keyboard, and press OK to open the selected list.

Adding a New Business Process

A business process can be added in various ways.

To add a new business process from the business process list, select Actions — Add.

Depending on the user interface configuration, business processes can be added without opening the list. Specify the name of the desired business process type in the business process type list and click OK button. Then the form of a new business process will be displayed for you to populate its attributes.

The user interface can include menu commands or toolbar buttons enabling you to immediately start adding business processes, without opening the list they are displayed in. To do so, select the appropriate menu item or click the custom toolbar button specifically created for this purpose.

After the attributes are filled in, click OK to save and start the business process; the form is closed.

Opening Business Processes

To view or modify a business process, first open the corresponding business process list. Search tools allow you to quickly find a business process you need in the list.

You can open a business process using one of the following methods:

  • select Actions — Edit menu item;
  • place the mouse pointer in the appropriate line and press Enter;
  • double-click anywhere in the line containing the business process you need.
Copying Business Processes

You can add a new business process to the business process list by copying an existing business process. To do this, place the cursor in the line containing the business process you want to copy, and select Actions — Copy.

Deleting Business Processes (Marking and Unmarking for Deletion)

There are two deletion methods: deletion mark and direct deletion. Availability of the two methods is determined by the rights of an individual user.

Marking for deletion permits you to indicate that the business process should be deleted; it changes the process icon (strikethrough will be applied) while the data continues to be displayed.

To mark a business process for deletion, place the mouse pointer in the appropriate line of the list and select Actions — Mark for Deletion. Or right-click in the line with the business process and select the corresponding command from the context menu.

To clear a deletion mark from a business process, place the cursor in the line containing the previously marked item and select Actions — Unmark for Deletion, or select the corresponding command from the context menu.

Actual deletion of objects (including business processes) is done when the Delete Marked Objects command is selected from the Operations menu, if this command is available to a particular user.

Starting Business Processes

To start a business process, first open the corresponding business process list. Search tools allow you to quickly find a business process you need in the list.

You can start a business process using one of the following methods:

  • in the list, select Start Business Process from the menu;
  • open the business process, and select Save and Start Business Process from the menu in the business process form;

Business process list may be opened using navigation panel or actions panel, as well as by the system when a subsystem in the sections panel is selected (for details, see the configuration description).

Adding a New Business Process

A business process can be added in various ways.

If a window of any business process list existing in the system is active, you can add a new business process by selecting New command.

If the list may include business processes of multiple types, you will be prompted to select the type of business process. The prompt will contain only the names of business processes of the types that can be displayed in the current list.

Depending on the user interface configuration, business processes can be added without opening the list. In this case, commands such as "New consumption of product", or similar commands, may appear on the navigation or action panel.

General description of the configuration may contain information about adding specific business processes.

Editing the Business Process Attributes

The appearance of the business process form, its properties, and the behavior of its controls are determined when the task configuration is set, and in general can vary widely.

Business processes are edited using general form handling techniques. These techniques are described in detail in General Information about Forms help topic.

To both save and start a business process, use Start and Close command.

The Save command saves a business process without starting and closing the form.

The Start command starts previously saved business process.

Copying Business Processes

You can add a new business process by copying an existing business process. To do it, in the business process list, place the cursor on the line of business process you want to copy, and select Copy command.

Deleting Business Processes (Marking and Unmarking for Deletion)

There are two deletion modes: direct deletion and deletion mark. The particular user's rights determine the availability of the modes.

Business process deletion (immediate deletion or marking/unmarking for deletion) is performed from the business process list.

To mark a business process for deletion, select it in the list and select Mark/Unmark for Deletion command or press Del.

To delete immediately, use the Delete menu command or press Shift + Del.

The business processes marked for deletion feature the icons with strikethrough.
