General

1C:Enterprise is a universal cloud and on-premise system of programs for automating a company's financial and wider operational activities. 1C:Enterprise has the breadth of capability to address the diverse needs of today's business. This is achieved through "configurability"–the ability to customize the system based on the specific needs of companies and their business processes.

1C:Enterprise is more than just a solution automating fixed business rules. Rather it is a suite of software tools employed by developers and users. The system can be logically divided into two major components that are closely interrelated: an application and the platform on which the application runs.

1C:Enterprise as an open system

The person in charge of selecting an automation system should feel confident that the system will not become a "black box" for the enterprise. Rather, its functionality should be understandable and easily changeable. Therefore, the open architecture of 1C:Enterprise applied solutions is a great advantage. 1C:Enterprise users can use the same software tools as 1C or third-party developers who develop standard solutions. They can analyze multiple facets of the applied solution's structure and business logic, including the way catalogs are organized, taxes are calculated, discounts are applied, warehouse inventory is accounted, etc. and to intervene and introduce changes if necessary.

Help system

In 1C:Enterprise you can use Help in any mode.

1C:Enterprise 8 operation

The system operation consists of two stages:

  • The configuration creation and editing mode (or the Designer mode), intended for customizing (configuring) application tasks, maintaining user lists, backing up and restoring the infobase;
  • The end-user work mode (or the 1C:Enterprise mode) where users perform accounting tasks and calculations and generate reports. Actions available to end users are determined by the configuration that they use.

Both stages can last continuously, with developers and administrators changing the configuration and providing users with updates.
