Restricting Access to Data

Rights restrictions are set for metadata objects stored in the database. In the list of rights, such objects contain the rights "Read," "Append," "Modify," and "Delete." The restrictions list is maintained using context menu commands. The list consists of two columns. The first specifies either the field or "Miscellaneous Fields," and the second the restriction condition.

For "Read" rights, several restrictions (by number of fields) may be imposed. For other rights, only one condition may be imposed.

For each "Read" restriction, a field may be selected. Selecting a field means that the query selection will contain only data in which the condition will be satisfied for the specified field (the check is performed only for this field).

"Miscellaneous Fields" means that the condition will be checked for each field, and if the condition is met, the data are selected.

A restriction condition may be entered manually or created with a wizard.
