For mobile application pictures, it is recommended that you use archive files that contain pictures of different sizes for devices with different screen resolutions, or a set of picture variants (the list of picture file types includes the .zip type). Pictures for mobile devices can have the following sizes: ldpi, mdpi, hdpi, and xhdpi. The base size is ldpi. The base picture is mandatory, other sizes are optional. It is recommended that you use pictures in PNG format.

For example, toolbar picture sizes must be 16 - 24 - 32 - 48.

Picture names must have postfixes that indicate their sizes:

  • l - ldpi;
  • m - mdpi;
  • h - hdpi;
  • x - xhdpi.

A file name that consists of a single letter from this list is acceptable.

Pack the picture variants to a .zip archive. It is recommended that you do not use compression.

It is recommended that you use transparent background for a picture because it ensures that the picture fits a control or a form well. For this, select any color that is not used in the picture as its background color during picture editing, create an image, and save the picture.

You can specify any background color for a picture. If you make this color transparent, form items covered by the picture area become visible.

You can set transparent background for a picture by clicking Set transparent background. The pointer will change to . Then click the picture area whose color you want to use as transparent color.

To remove the transparency effect, click the Clear transparency button.

The Set transparent background and Clear transparency buttons are only available for BMP, JPEG or TIFF formats.

To edit a picture, click Edit.
