Editing external reports

You can edit an external data processor in the editor window.

Specify the main object properties: Name, Synonym, and Comment.

If you want to use a data composition schema for generating and editing the report result, create the schema templates in the Templates group, which is subordinate to the report (specify the Data composition schema template type). In the Main data composition schema box, specify the main schema. To view and edit the schema, click the Open data composition schema button. If no data composition schemas are available, clicking this button opens the Template wizard with a predefined template type.

If the Forms pane, specify the default report form, report settings form, and report option form (provided that these forms are defined in the report).

Settings form

An external report can have multiple settings forms. Select the default settings form.

Option form

An external report can have multiple option forms. Select the default option form.

Create the subordinate objects: attributes, tabular sections, forms, and templates.

To create forms and templates, use the built-in wizards.

For each form, you can select its type (report form, settings form, option form, or generic form), and you can also specify whether the form uses the data composition system.

The following report operations are available on the Actions menu:

  • Open object module. Opens the report module for editing.
  • Open default form. Opens the default report form in the form editor.
  • Open. Opens a submenu for opening the report form or template for editing.
  • Compare and merge with external report or data processor. Opens the dialog box for comparing the report with another object.
  • Export to files. Opens the dialog box for exporting the external report to XML files.
  • Import from files. Opens the dialog box for selecting the XML file that stores the report.
Attention! If you select a file that is not a root report export file, it is opened as a text document.
  • Add. Adds an attribute, tabular section, form, or template to the report.
  • Help content. Opens the report help topic editor.
  • Properties. Opens the report property palette.

If you are editing the report in the Ordinary application mode, you can create the report output form by clicking Actions, pointing to Wizards, and clicking Output form wizard.

To save the report, on the File menu, click Save, select a directory, and specify the file name.
