Internet connection allows providing remote on-line user work with the information bases. This is possible thanks to the use of thin client and web-client. They connect to a specially configured web-server which performs their interaction with cluster or file information base.
In client-server operation variant:
In file operation variant:
The application solutions do not require any modification in order to work with them online. Both thin client and web-client provide themselves the operation of 1C:Enterprise 8 interface on the user computer.
A difference of the use of these client applications is as follows:
- thin client requires a pre-installation on the user computer, web-client does not require,
- thin client provides a complete functionality, web-client does not support some platform capabilities,
- thin client operates under Windows or Linux and web-client operates under internet-browser; so the user of web-client can additionally work:
- on the computer with operating system Mac OS X (in browser Safari),
- on the internet pad iPad with operating system Apple iOS (in the mobile browser Safari),
- there are some differences in the work ergonomics of thin client and web-client.
The client applications can be connected both with protocol HTTP and protocol HTTPS which supports the encryption of transmitted data.
Work using mobile Internet
The clients can use different ways to access Internet. It may be the high-speed connections via the dedicated lines or via the local network. Or it may be the low-speed connections, for example, using the mobile GPRS-connection.
Specially for such cases, when the work with information base is performed using the low-speed communication channels, the thin client and web-client have a special launch mode – slow connection mode. As a result, even on the low-speed communication channels the platform provides an acceptable speed of user work.
Thin client distributive
In order to allow the remote users who connect online the full scale use of application solution functional capabilities, there is a standalone platform distributive which contains only a thin client - 1C:Enterprise 8.2 Thin client.
This distributive has a small size, so you can easily download it via various communication channels.
Also the platform supports the mode of automatic download (via HTTP protocol) and installation of thin client distributive in those cases when the discrepancy of versions is detected for the launched thin client and server part of 1C:Enterprise.
Other capabilities of remote work
In addition to the direct connection to the information base using the client applications, the platform provides other capabilities of remote work. All of them require the modifications of application solution in a varying degree or writing the individual applications. Usually, these methods do not allow working with data in the real-time mode or provide this ability only for a limited set of functionality.

Use of Web-services
Mechanism of web-services allows the application solutions to support and implement a technology of service-oriented architecture SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture). This technology is a modern standard for the integration of applications and information systems. With its help, the application solution may provide its functionality as a set of web-services published in the Internet. In turn, the application solution can use itself the web-services published by the other suppliers. - Interaction with the information base using the web-extensions
Web-extension is one of the platform components. With its help it is possible to write web-application which will interact with the information base of 1C:Enterprise 8. It may be a direct user work with data using the custom web-interface that works similar in style to the 1C:Enterprise 8 interface. It may be embedding of some applied 1C:Enterprise 8 functionality in the existing site or simply a software access to the 1C:Enterprise 8 from the other systems. - Off-line data exchange in the distributed information system
Data exchange mechanisms allow transferring data and configuration changes with a specified periodicity between the distributed system nodes. And the nodes of such system can be both the information bases of 1C:Enterprise 8 and other software systems not based on the 1C:Enterprise 8.
